I like the floral texture on the white dress, but I am not very sure of the design of the dress, the simple strings on the shoulders make the dress looks cheap and not very fashionable. Continue reading “White dress”
This silk shirt was very outdated, nothing special at all. Maybe it was the common style of 1960’s? But it was a cool shirt for summer, we all need something cooler to wear in hot summer when we are in outdoors.
The material is cool because it is silk, but the collar was too close to my neck which was not cool. I been thinking how to lower the collar for a while until I found the decorated collar piece.
I love natural material, when I see something made of linen or silk, I can not turn my eyes away. This linen shirt has jean’s feel , looks very simple but still cool. I just think it will be better to add some thing to it.
The simplest stitch should match it’s style I thought,
This white vest just like a nice canvas, I can do some designs to make it look better. What about draw a butterfly on the side?
Now, time to sew many knots on the butterfly shape.
This size M red silk top contains nice features, but it is a little too small for me. I was not sure of the collar either. I had to tear off both side and add to two black strips to make the bust wider.
Here is finish of the strips, so pretty!
I liked the patten and the fabric, which is 100% cotton. But I am not sure if I would want to wear such a long skirt during this hot summer weather, this easy makeover is very simple, everyone can try as long as you have a sewing machine.
First, cute the length you prefer, I cut it 2 inches above my knees, which left about 12″ to make ruffs on the buttom.
How to lock the loose edge without a serger? I used #30 on the swing machine to enclosed the loose edge, and it worked.
I love texture, texture will add a 3 dimensional look to the most plain fabrics and can turn a boring shirt into a piece art! I found a plain red linen shirt which is perfect for continual practice for the drawn thread work as I tried on my last white shirt.
This white linen shirt is just like a nice, white, blank canvas for me to try drawn thread project, I have never try drawn thread work before, but I think it is a very classic, and elegant way to add texture to many fabric.
I have designed in my mind that I wanted to make some vertical lines to make the shirt looks slimmer. After I took off the front pocket, I used a needle to tear some thread up and pull them out, making sure you pull one thread at a time. It took a while for me to pull all these threads out, but I was excited for the experimental test.
They should looks like this before drawn thread. Continue reading “White shirt makeover”
I am so excited to share this new makeover with you, I just changed a Size 2 dress to a size 12 in less than 2 hours without using a sewing machine! Sound unbelievable? But it’s quite true, let me show you how.
Here is the size 2 black silk dress, don’t believe me, check the tag!
Size 2 is too small for most middle aged women/moms. what can we do with it? I noticed the black outer layer had a lot of pleating around the waist and bust, which has the potential to be expanded. Continue reading “From size 2 to Size 12 in less than 2 hours without use sewing machine!”
I did hand-stitching on the long blue shirt earlier, that was pretty successful, I think it is the easiest way to add texture, pattern, and color to your clothes. I chose the simple patterns because they are easy to stitch and also simple pattern is just a right test to my style.
The dark brown shirt fits me well, but I am not sure of the four pockets on the front. I want to do something to make the shirt look more relaxed and feminine.
I first took the two pockets off on top, the black and white picture shows the result.
Lets do some stitching on the front like this, those variety vertical pattens together make one big patten. I also stitched some horizontal patterns on the cover of the button packets to balance the top vertical patten. Continue reading “Hand-stitching on the brown shirt”
